Men more open to dating via Twitter
As many as nine out of 10 men would date women via Twitter, a social networking service, while more than half of women will not, according to a survey released by matchmaker Duo on Monday.
The result shows that 121 or 88 percent of 138 males would "positively" go on a date on Twitter but 74 or 62 percent of 119 females would not.
Twitter and Facebook are the most popular social network services (SNS) - web-based services that provide the means for users to interact over the Internet, such as instant messaging.
Those who were positive about SNS dating said they found it effective to know their partners' "emotional status" (45 percent) and "relationships" (34 percent) because they could actually read what their partners were writing on sites.
About 70 percent of the respondents who were skeptical about it said they would not believe their partners' profiles because people tend to exaggerate about themselves, with 56 females or 47 percent and seven males or 5 percent

결혼정보 회사 듀오는 최근 회원 257명에게 '트위터로 낯선 이성을 사귈 수 있겠느냐'고 물은 결과 남성 10명 중 9명이 긍정적으로 답한 반면 여성은 절반 이상이 부정적 태도를 보였다고 12일 밝혔다.
설문 결과에 따르면 소셜네트워크서비스(SNS)를 이용한 이성 교제를 긍정적으로 받아들인 남성은 응답자 138명 중 121명으로 87.7%였다. 여성은 응답자 119명의 62.2%(74명)가 부정적이라고 답했다.
SNS는 트위터나 페이스북처럼 짧은 이야기를 인터넷에서 주고받을 수 있는 일종의 개인 홈페이지다.
SNS 이성교제를 긍정적으로 본 남녀 응답자는 SNS가 상대방의 감성적 측면(45.2%)과 대인관계(34.3%)를 파악하는 데 효과적이기 때문이라고 답했다. SNS에 올라온 글을 보고 상대방이 평소 어떤 생각을 하는지, 사람 됨됨이나 인간관계는 어떤지 들여다볼 수 있기 때문이라는 설명이다.
SNS 이성교제를 경계하는 응답자들은 69.2%가 상대방의 자기소개를 믿을 수 없다고 했다. 자신을 치장하려고 배경을 부풀릴 수 있는 점을 우려한 것이다. 성별 전체 응답자 가운데 SNS에 올라온 자기소개를 믿을 수 없다는 사람은 여성이 47.1%(56명)로 남성의 5.1%(7명)를 크게 앞섰다
